23rd June 2018 was an evening of surprises for Nicola. Having gone to an annual ball to support Jonathan (Jonny) in the army reserves, she was enjoying the speeches following the meal and as they came to an end Jonny went down on one knee (in front of the 100 guests!) and proposed.
Nicola and Jonny live in central Manchester but knew they wanted to be married within an hour of Manchester, preferably Cheshire and that they wanted a summer wedding the following year. Within 8 days of the proposal, Heaton House farm was booked.
Nicola is a great person for research and detail and used a range of Google, Pinterest and wedding dedicated sites to gather ideas. Admitting that she had never really had a definite idea about her wedding day, but the only definite was they would have as much blue as possible on the day.
Nicola went to three different wedding stores and tried on a variety of styles and designs of dresses which she found draining but eventually chose a beautiful sleeveless, highly detailed, Swarovski crystal bodice with a swan’s neckline, medium train, and a half veil. Ironically the bridesmaid dresses had been brought 13 months before at Dorothy Perkins without hesitation. For these Nicola chose chiffon layered sleeveless Grecian design in navy. The flower girls matching dress was a short white and navy dress embroidered with butterflies which together with the bouquet tails tied everything beautifully together.
Nicola and her bridal party enjoyed getting ready all together in Heaton Houses pamper room with views stretching across Cheshire and Staffordshire moorlands specifically built to provide a relaxing private space for the bride to enjoy before the ceremony.
Jonny chose the same suit as his two best men, and four ushers but with the addition of a waistcoat off the peg from Next, everything matched perfectly.
The civil ceremony took place in our beautiful rustic Oak Beamed Barn, the venue was dressed using as much of Nicolas favourite colour blue as possible whilst using white aisle carpet and flowers to embellish the ceremony tables and the dressing of the wedding breakfast dining area.
Despite the early bad weather, the rain stopped and whilst their guests were enjoying the pimp your prosecco bar, Nicola and Jonny were whisked away into the water gardens for some stunning outdoor photographs and for 10 minutes peace away from the hustle and bustle.
The wedding breakfast was catered by Vanilla in Allseasons with an amazing menu of Ham Hock to start, for the main they had Chicken stuffed with Chorizo and to add a cute touch to the festivities, Nicola and Jonny decided on his and hers desserts, Chocolate and Caramel Cake for the ladies and Apple Strudel for the gents…delicious!
Before jetting off to South Africa for a luxurious honeymoon, the day was finished with a party, with entertainment from magician Sam Fitton and the Live Piano Experience that kept guests dancing the night away.
