Nikita and Luke light up the sky on their special day

After an amazing nine years together, Nikita and Luke took their traditional walk through their local park to watch the Bonfire Night fireworks. There’s a very special spot on this walk, it became special the night Luke asked Nikita to be his girlfriend, and tonight, it became an extra special place as Luke got down on one knee, this time, to ask her to be his wife! She could not have been happier! What a beautiful proposal!

Nikita absolutely loved wedding planning, and instantly got looking through ideas on Pinterest, Instagram and Etsy, she headed off to wedding fairs and girly catch-ups with the Bride Tribe. She even remembers the first thing she bought, a cake topper!

“Random I know, but I had the urge to just buy something and get going!”

Choosing a venue can be difficult, especially when, like Nikita and Luke, you are torn between styles. They were trying to decide between a rustic, countryside wedding or a glamourous wedding; luckily for them, Heaton House Farm offered both!

“The minute we stepped into the venue we knew it was for us, the whole farm is so special, and we couldn’t wait to say ‘I Do!’ under the night sky.”

So they continued their wedding planning journey with their “rustic luxe” theme, they loved the concept of deep golds and burgundy mixed with the greenery of Eucalyptus. They knew they wanted lots of candles and floral hoops hanging from our oak beams and knew they could tie this into the feel of the farm.

They had lots of help to create their venue dressing as one of the Bridesmaids was a graphic designer, she helped bring their vision to life – creating the invitations, floral hoops and an incredible photo backdrop and balloon arch which were fantastic photo opportunities for their guests too!

Also dressing the venue was Tamaryn’s Treasures, she brought along gold stands for their trees for the reception and their beautiful flowers, consisting of deep burgundy flowers, berries and greenery. When the dining room was revealed, Nikita even cried! We can see why!

“I pictured a lace dress with long sleeves, perfect for our November wedding” – but that wasn’t what she went for at all! Nikita describes her dress as a wild card but as soon as she stepped into it, she knew it was the one!

It was a stunning Maggie Sottero fishtail design, with a detailed back and long train beautifully partnered with a cathedral length veil for the daytime, and a ‘Mrs Pearson’ personalised hair clip for the evening.

Their six bridesmaids also looked stunning in their long-sleeved, Chi Chi London dresses featuring a low cut back and a satin belt to complete the look. They all absolutely loved getting ready in our pamper room – the prosecco was also great! HAHA!

“Luke chose his own suit for him and the groomsmen – they all looked so handsome!”

From their first visit, the night sky area always took their breath away so accompanied by the candles and Eucalyptus, it made a perfect ceremony area for their day!

Walking up the aisle to a cover of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’ with her bridesmaids was truly magical!

Following the ceremony, everyone enjoyed delicious canapes of miniature pints and burgers, tempura veg and sausages followed by an incredible meal, all served by their caterers for the day, Vanilla In Allseasons. The menu included potato and carrot rosti with garlic spinach and a poached egg for starters, for main they had cauliflower steak/chicken with Mediterranean vegetables and crushed new potatoes and then for dessert they went for a trio of salted caramel brownie and ice cream, Eton mess and profiteroles.

Now, they couldn’t have a Bonfire wedding without sparklers and fireworks, the guests were in for a fantastic treat as Nikita and Luke had both! So guests headed out to the patio so Steve Bridgwood Photography could capture a special sparkler shot and enjoyed the show.

“This was such a special moment for the day and we are so grateful to the HHF team for setting this up for us”

Heading back inside to get the party started, Luke and Nikita danced to ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé, a song that means so much to them as the lyrics fit perfectly. Music was a very special part of their day as Luke had created a playlist for the whole day with all songs that mean something to them as a couple – so romantic!

Nikita’s Memorable Moment

“As I look back over the whole day I feel overwhelmed with love and happiness – I can’t just choose one moment. From spending the morning in the bridal pamper room with my bridesmaids to walking down the aisle to my future husband and seeing a room full of our friends and family. The speeches were so special to us and also watching the firework display – I could go on and on!”

Advice For Future Couples

Throughout the planning process, try and remember that the day is all about celebrating your commitment to your future husband or wife so go with what makes you both happy! The day goes by in a magical blur so try and take a moment on the day to step back with your new husband and look and have a moment just you two, looking around the room and seeing all of your family and friends celebrating is so special.
